Baked Tofu

Marinated and baked tofu is hands down, my favorite way to have tofu. Tofu does not need to taste plain and flavorless! You can marinate it with any flavors you’d like but this recipe is my go-to for baked tofu. It’s super easy to make, with just a few simple ingredients, and not a lot of prep work. This tofu tastes amazing on its own, or with your favorite sauce. I’ve even enjoyed it cold as left overs dipped in easy peanut sauce! It’s easy to bake a batch of this tofu for your weekly meal prep as well.

How to Make Baked Tofu

The most important step to making flavorful tofu, is to press your tofu first. I like to slice the tofu into squares or cubes, and place the pieces on a few layers of paper towel (or a clean tea towel), then cover it with more paper towel, and then a book or cutting board, and something heavy (I like to use my Dutch oven or cast iron pan). Alternatively, you can purchase a tofu press – just in case you don’t feel like playing kitchen Jenga with pots and pans. I leave the tofu under the weight for about 10 minutes. Then it is ready to marinate. Once you’ve mixed up your marinade, place the tofu pieces in with the marinade, and let it sit for 1 – 2 hours, flipping half way. When it’s all been marinated, preheat the oven to 350’F and bake for 15 – 20 minutes, flipping the tofu pieces over halfway through baking.
