Apple Cinnamon Fruit Compote Recipe
Ingredients:
2 Apples
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 tsp Corn Starch
1/4 Cup Cold Water
Method:
Dice apples into small 1/4” – 1/2” pieces.
In a small sauce pan, stir together the apples, cinnamon, 1/2 Cup water and brown sugar.
Bring to a boil.
Boil for 5 minutes, then reduce to a simmer.
Cook on low for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
In a small bowl, mix together the corn starch and 1/4 Cup Cold Water, until milky without any clumps.
Pour corn starch water into the sauce pan with the apples.
Stir together, and increase the heat to bring the sauce to a boil.
Boil for 1-2 minutes, until the sauce is no longer ‘milky’ from the cornstarch.
Remove from heat and enjoy as a topping on anything from pancakes to ice cream – the possibilities are endless.
I made this but want to know if I should have peeled the apples?
Smells delicious, going to use it with oatmeal.
It’s totally up to you if you wanted them peeled or not. I personally like it with the peels on. I hope you love it with your oatmeal!
Can I use maple syrup in place of the brown sugar
