What is Tempeh?
In short, tempeh is fermented soy beans. It is an excellent source of vegan protein that you can find in most grocery stores in the health food isle, or next to wherever you typically find tofu. The main difference between tempeh and tofu, is that the soy beans in tempeh are whole. The soy beans have been pressed into a brick and fermented, whereas tofu is made from soy milk. Though made from soy, the flavor and texture of tempeh and tofu are quite different; tempeh is much firmer and has a nutty flavor.
