Simple No-Cook Hot Sauce

What do you do when you run out of hot sauce and it’s not to grocery day yet? Make your own hot sauce! I didn’t want to mace my whole house by boiling hot peppers over the stove, so I made this simple recipe for hot sauce using hot chili powder. My husband – the hot sauce connoisseur around here – helped me taste test and adjust the recipe after the first lick had me running my mouth under the sink faucet.

This simple no-cook recipe for hot sauce is made with hot chili powder, and does not require any fresh peppers.

  • 3/4 Cup Vinegar
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 tsp Lime Juice 
  • 3-4 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Paprika
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar


Add all of the ingredients to a small jar with a lid, and shake to blend. 

Store in the refrigerator.
